When going shopping for lotion and other products, there are many options out there. Some of the options you should consider when shopping are organic lotions, because they are truly the best for your skin. Other lotions have artificial chemicals in them, but the companies may try to make you think they are just as organic and just as beneficial to your skin as the best organic lotions.

How can you know if something is really Organic? The best way is to look for the USDA Organic seal. Legally, 95% of the ingredients in a product have to be organically produced for a product to get this seal. Unfortunately, even if a product is allowed to have this seal, not all of the best organic lotions are going to put the seal on their packages. That is when things get a little more difficult to understand.

Even if an organic seal is not on the product, there are a few things you can do to figure out if the product or lotions is organic. One thing to do is to look at the ingredients on the package. Look for natural oils like sunflower seed oil or peppermint oil. Ingredients like Aloe Vera and Vitamins E and C help you to know that the product has organic ingredients. Very often, the more of this type of ingredient in the organic lotion, the better it is for your skin. One thing to remember, though, is that just because you see a few of these ingredients it does not mean the product is completely organic or even mostly organic. When checking the label, it is also important to look for ingredients you can’t identify. If you see a strange name, it is probably a chemical. You probably don’t want to use that lotion on your body, because your skin will absorb whatever is in the product. If you’re unsure about any ingredient, avoid that product.

There are other hints on products that they are organic. Wording like “made with organic ingredients” lets you know the product has organic ingredients. Unfortunately, if it has a label like that, may not be considered one of the best organic lotions. Still, if you decide to purchase that product it is good to know that it does have some organic ingredients. Some organic ingredients are better than a completely artificial product. Other wording on the label, such as “toxin-free” or “no artificial dyes or fragrances” let you know the product was made with organic intentions. Be cautious, though, about taking a label entirely at face value, especially if you find the product seems to have a lot of ingredients that are unidentifiable.

Although many stores have organic lotions and other organic products, if you are having trouble finding what you want and need, you can always go online. A simple search term like “organic lotions” will help you to find stores that sell organic lotions and other organic beauty care products. Some will help you to find a store near you that would sell these products while others you will have to buy the product online. Either way, many of these sites will tell you about their products and explain a little about the ingredients in them. Knowing you are buying from a store that only sells organic products can help you to feel more comfortable and give you peace of mind about your organic lotion purchase. Plus, once you get familiar with what is in these organic lotions, it will be easier for you to find the best organic lotions for your skin on your own.

When shopping, it is not uncommon to see the word “organic” on products. This includes both products that we eat as well as products we use for cosmetic reasons. For many people, their first assumption upon seeing this word is probably to think that it is something good for both them and for the environment. Labels can be a bit deceptive, though, so you have to be a cautious when shopping for organics, such as the organic lotions and other organic body products.

One thing to understand when purchasing what appears to be the best organic lotions and other organic products is the wording. What appears to be organic may not be entirely organic. In the United States, a product can be labeled “100% organic” only if it is made entirely of certified organic ingredients and the manufacturer uses methods which keep the product completely organic. The lotions that follow these guidelines are going to be the best organic lotions.

If it is not entirely organic, a lotion that is 95% organic can still use the word “organic” on the label and can carry the USDA organic seal. Although these lotions are better than non-organic, it is important to remember that they are not the best organic lotions. Lotions with at least 70% organic ingredients can have the “made with organic ingredients” label. So although the word “organic” is on the label of a bittle of lotion or other product, it does not mean it is truly organic. Although the guidelines are not completely the same, most European countries follow similar guidelines for organic product labeling.

Some people might be confused about why it even matters if a product is “100% organic” or even organic at all. Products that are not organic have less strict guidelines about what can be in them. Often these products have chemicals that are harmful. These chemicals may even cause cancer or other harmful diseases. Instead of having harmful ingredients, the best organic lotions and other body products are going to include natural ingredients, ingredients that are going to help in instead of harm you. These ingredients include natural ingredients, such as aloe vera, which helps with sunburns, wounds, and anti-aging.

To be certified as “organic,” a product has to meet certain guidelines. First, it has to be free of chemicals such as pesticides, fertilizer, and genetically altered organisms. In addition, the ingredients have to be grown in an area that has been free from chemicals for a certain period of time (often three or more years). The ingredients must be kept separate from products that are not “organic” certified. For those who are for animal rights, the entire process is an organic process. One thing this means is that the products are not tested on animals.

With the best organic lotions and other body products, you may also notice labels such as “no artificial dyes,” “cruelty free,” and “toxin free.” These are labels that can make you feel better about the product you are about to purchase or which you have already purchased. Knowing it is not going to be harmful to you and knowing it was not harmful to animals can provide comfort to you and to your loved ones.

The “green” movement, “environmentally friendly”, and other words like them have heralded a new age. The far-reaching effect of the environmental movement has reached many areas, including the skin care field. Not only across North America, but also across the world, people have developed a desire to preserve the earth. People have started changing their usual habits and product use in order to be “in” with the “Green”. This is a new and exciting opportunity for environmentally safe products.

Health food or other types of “healthy living” stores carry all sorts of “green” or “environmentally friendly products, including organic products. Among these products you will find organic lotions for sale at reasonable prices. You can also find natural and organic ingredients to make your own organic lotions or creams. Since these natural products have no chemicals or harmful ingredients added, they are safe to make and safe to use.

Those who make their own organic lotions can become so good that they end up making money selling their concoctions to friends and relatives. If you, too, decide to make your own organic lotions, you will want to buy your own products. Be sure you read the labels first, to ensure you are getting products without preservatives. Do not buy products with preservatives because you have no real way of knowing how long that product was on the shelf. Chemicals allow the products to stay on a shelf for months or years at a time without spoiling. You don’t want those chemicals in your organic lotions or on your skin.

There is a negative aspect to using organic lotions. Organic lotions do not last as long as the synthetic products. That is because the synthetic products have preservatives in them as we mentioned above. Of course, if you use your organic lotions and creams on a daily basis, then you will not be concerned with having a lotion or cream last for several years. You will use them long before the organic ingredients break down.

What should you consider when shopping for organic lotions and creams? Avoid any product that contains petroleum. Petroleum is a mineral jelly and all it does is dry out your skin. That is not what you want your skin care regime to do. Concentrate on spending your money on top quality products that actually work.

The organic lotion and organic skin care product movement has grown and become so popular that that even large companies have developed their own lines of organic lotions and creams in order to meet the needs and desires of the consumer. As you walk through the stores you will notice the store shelves are filled with natural skin products replacing the synthetic products. This is in stark contrast to shelves of just a few years ago.

Besides avoiding putting chemicals onto your skin, organic lotions also have another benefit. Organic lotions usually contain rich essential oils. These oils provide an aromatherapy benefit. When you sue these organic lotions you are not only moisturizing and protecting your skin but you are also giving your nerves a calming treat.

Millions of people the world over are switching from synthetic, chemical-containing products to natural products, such as organic lotions and creams. When you start using these organic products you will find enough benefits and satisfaction that you will be glad you made the move. Organic skin products, such as organic lotions and creams are safe and natural, and the perfect compliment to your skin and our environment.

The skin care industry is always trying to be on top of the latest and greatest as we grown in our scientific knowledge. Organic lotion is one of those latest and greatest ideas to be brought to the forefront. Most lotions, though, don’t actually live up to being called organic. Even those professing to be “all natural” and “healthy” are anything but. Our challenge is to find an organic lotion product that can truly be considered organic.

Even though the label may say organic, most skin care products have very low levels of natural, plant based ingredients. Most of these so-called “organic” products are actually made of chemicals and other synthetic ingredients. In order to be truly considered a natural organic lotion at least 50% of the active ingredients should be made from plant-based materials.

Many active ingredients in any product touching the skin will be absorbed into the bloodstream, Because of this it is vitally importance that these products are as safe as possible. Organic lotions and creams should never contain anything that could harm your body’s systems when absorbed. Therefore, you need to look carefully at the labels in order to determine what is really inside that bottle or jar.

The important compounds in organic lotions include natural oils, plant based waxes, vitamins, coenzymes and antioxidants. These particular ingredients provide essential nutrients while helping help to soften and replenish the skin. They strengthen and heal skin from the inside out and treat the cause of skin problems. These natural products provide lasting effects and they give the user a peace of mind about what is being put into and onto the body.

Not only do we need to be concerned with what ingredients are in organic lotions, we must also realize the importance of what these products don’t contain. You will not find fragrances and parabens in a truly natural product. These are two synthetic compounds that are found in most popular skin care products. Parabens and fragrances contain chemicals that can be harmful to your overall health. These synthetics are especially detrimental to allergy sufferers.

Finding a product which promotes health is the key to the development of an effective organic lotion. Although looking great is the ultimate goal when you use a lotion, such as an organic lotion, you need to be pleased with the look and feel of your skin. When you feel good, you will look good. Combining good nutrition, the use of natural products, and good health will provide an added benefit of good skin.

Do some reading or research and find out as much as possible about the ingredients of an organic lotion you want to use before you buy it. The label will have information from the manufacturer that you should carefully read and will also indicate if there is a money-back guarantee. Remember that every person is different so every product works differently on every person. When choosing an organic lotion for your use, keep your individual needs in mind.

You can and will find organic lotions that work just right for you, no matter if you have dry skin, oily skin, or normal skin. You don’t need to load harmful chemicals onto your skin in order to have skin that is the envy of others. Do some research and reading and you will find a safe, organic lotion which will heal your skin, pamper it, keep it soft and supple, and will ease your mind. Taking care of your skin in a natural way will allow you to look and feel better without worry.

It seems chemicals are everywhere. Growing up we had our parents, most likely Mom, slather suntan lotion all over us when we went outside. Today, many of us, as parents, continue the tradition and slather lotion on our kids. The problem is, if you look at the ingredients you will notice that many of the suntan lotions have chemicals added to them. You want something better? Look into using organic suntan lotions.

Organic suntan lotion, as with all organic lotions in general, don’t have extra chemicals added. This is the major advantage to using them because when you add these chemicals to your skin, your skin will actually absorb them. Since chemicals will, over time, turn into toxins, you skin ends up absorbing toxins, i.e. your body absorbs the toxins and your body (skin) reacts. In other words, when you use these suntan lotions not only does your skin have to fight off the harmful effects of the sun but it must do double work and fight off the chemicals that are supposed to protect you from the sun.

A number of manufacturers have realized that these chemicals are not good for your skin. The manufacturers started coming up with hypo-allergenic alternatives to chemical-ladened suntan lotions. These organic suntan lotions are designed to help your skin stay healthy and moist. These natural suntan lotions can even help to prevent the premature aging of your skin, although frequent tanning is a fast way to bring about premature aging even with the religious use of tanning products.

Many organic suntan lotions have vitamins in them to help your skin be healthy. These vitamins (A, B, C, E, beta carotene) and other nutrients help prevent your skin from being hurt by the sun. Rather than being derived from chemicals, these vitamins come from natural ingredients that have been mixed together. This give you the best of both worlds – protection from the sun and organic lotions that are safe to use.

When shopping for organic sun tan lotions you will find there are a wide variety of herbs and plants that have been added to the lotions help prevent the sun from ruining your skin. The organic lotions end up not only functioning as a sun tan lotion but some also have extra benefits you can derive from using them. For instance, some organic sun tan lotions will add in aromatherapy to help you relax.

Sometimes the best way to know for sure that you are using truly organic lotions is to make them yourself. This isn’t as hard or complicated as it sounds. For a fraction of the money of “store bought” you can make organic lotions right in your own kitchen or bathroom. You control the ingredients so you can be sure they have no harmful chemicals or ingredients. You will save so much money that you can generously use your home-made organic lotions for your face, hands, body, and feet without shelling out enormous amounts of money. Also, once you have created your first batch or two, you’ll be increasing the amounts you make at one time so you can give away bottles and jars of your handmade organic lotions as gifts. As word gets around, you’ll even be able to sell your product, helping you to make more for yourself!

There are good reasons to make your own organic lotions. Any substance you apply to your skin, such as cosmetics, creams, moisturizers, and lotions will be absorbed into your body. Not only are your heart, liver and lungs organs of your body but your skin is also an organ. In fact, your skin is the largest organ of your body, so it has lots of area which can absorb substances which come in contact with it. Because the skin is an effective vehicle for the absorption of substances into your body, the pharmaceutical/medical profession takes advantage of this by making medications specifically designed to be absorbed through the skin.

Read the labels on every product you purchase to put on your skin. You will see lots of long, strange words, such as para-hydroxybenzoic acids, (parabens), triethanolamine, and stearalkonium chloride that you can barely read or pronounce. Many of the chemicals are often preservatives that allow the product to remain on the shelf for many years or months without “going bad”. The parabens (Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, and Ethylparaben) often cause allergic reactions and rashes. Organic lotions don’t do that.

You also want to avoid products containing petroleum or petrolatum. Do you recognize any part of those words? Petrol —– that is what fuel (gasoline or diesel) is called in other countries. It is derived from oil. You are putting a black crude oil product on your skin. It is oil, but instead of being beneficial to your skin, it dries the skin out. Exactly the opposite of what lotions should do!

We will cover some basics to making your organic lotions in another article. It really isn’t as hard as you think!

If you raid your kitchen you will probably find most of the equipment you need: A blender, double boiler, glass measuring cup, measuring spoons, wooden spoon(s), and plastic or glass jars/bottles (cobalt or amber colored look great for gifts!).

What type of ingredients depends on your preferences but one recipe which makes about 15 ounces includes ½ cup [150 ml] of grape seed oil; 1/3 cup [75 ml] of coconut oil; 1 teaspoon [5 ml] of cocoa butter; 1 Tablespoon [15 ml] of natural colored beeswax; 1/3 cup [75 ml] of your desired/favorite floral water; 1/3 cup [75 ml] of distilled water; 1/3 cup [75 ml] of organic Aloe Vera gel; approximately 20 drops of Vitamin E oil; and approximately 10 drops of your favorite essential oil.

§ In the double boiler mix the grape seed and coconut oils, cocoa butter, and beeswax and heat on low.

§ Once it is at room temperature, blend the distilled water, floral water, aloe vera gel, vitamin E and essential oil in the blender on to the highest speed for at least two minutes.

§ After two minutes, pour the cooled oil/butter/wax mixture slowly into the center of the waters in the blender as it continues blending.

§ The blender makes a rough coughing-like noise when the lotion is thoroughly mixed and you can turn it off. Pour into your container[s].

A simpler recipe for your own organic lotion uses ½ cup [120 ml] of distilled water; ½ cup of an oil (olive, coconut, almond, grape seed, or other oil you like); 1 Tablespoon of liquid Lethicin; 8 drops of your favorite essential oil, 4 drops of myrrh; and 400 IU of Vitamin E oil (which you can get by opening Vitamin E capsules). Mix these ingredients on high in a blender until well mixed.

Store your lotions at a cool room temperature. Remember high temperatures can cause your organic lotions to break down faster. If the temperature drops below 60 degrees some oils will congeal and you’ll have a very hard lotion. Should it harden, you can put it into the microwave for about 10 seconds.

Also remember glass, plastic and wood are the best materials for the equipment you use to make your organic lotions. Avoid metal as it can cause chemical reactions. If you can, it would also be best to use a new wooden spoon and then keep it reserved especially for mixing your organic lotions.

Have fun and remember to experiment with different types of floral waters and essential oils.
